Transition From Reactive to Proactive
Health care reform is dynamic and often confusing, requiring dedicated staff to stay up-to-date on current and imminent rulings, and to have the ability to quickly, yet comprehensively, implement changes which effect positive business growth and improved patient and provider satisfaction. All health care executives are expected to outline for their Boards what needs to be done and when, but most importantly to their community members, how much everything will cost over a three to five year timeline.
Unfortunately for many facilities the staff and financial resources required to maintain a strategic approach to health care reform are limited. This forces these organizations into reactive decision making instead of thoughtful, proactive planning. This translates into excessive Health IT spending to resolve recurring issues that could have been mitigated through planning and implementation of long-term, strategic solutions.
At Praesidio, we know this is not the fault of our healthcare clients. Too many changes are happening too quickly, with too high a cost, for even the largest of our provider and health system clients to manage on their own. From EHR upgrades to infrastructure needs, to staffing, security and continuing education requirements, all healthcare facilities face an uncertain future.
